Roku Adds More Channels To Onscreen Content Search

If you have been looking for your favorite movie or tv show to watch on your Roku it’s likely you have used the Roku search function. While it’s been a great tool, it’s function was severely limited to a few of the top channels included in it’s search directory.

Roku announced yesterday they have now expanded the search feature to cover 25 of the most streamed channels including:

  • Acorn TV
  • Amazon Video
  • CBS All Access
  • CinemaNow, Crackle
  • Encore Play
  • FOX NOW
  • Freeform (formerly Watch ABC Family)
  • FX NOW
  • Google Play
  • HBO GO
  • Hulu
  • Met Opera on Demand
  • M-GO
  • NAT GEO TV
  • Netflix, Popcornflix
  • Snagfilms
  • Starz Play
  • Time Warner Cable
  • Tubi TV
  • VUDU
  • Watch ABC
  • Watch Disney Channel
  • Watch Disney Jr.
  • Watch Disney XD

The channels run the gamut from free streaming channels, paid streaming, to rental, to purchase, to authenticated services. While you may not have all of the paid services included in the search, if a particular service continues to ring up results for what you like and your current paid service does not, it may give you the info you need to make the switch. Also if its a rental or purchase it gives you pricing on your search result, pointing you to the cheapest option.

Roku has also provided a short tutorial on how to use their search feature at the link above, be sure to check it out if you are new to Roku search.
