Viki Free & Premium Comes To Roku

Deadline is reporting that international movie service Viki is coming to the Roku soon and that an official announcement is forthcoming.

What is Viki? According to their site, “Viki, a play on the words “video” and “wiki,” is the global TV site where millions of people discover, watch and subtitle global prime-time shows and movies in more than 200 languages. Together with its fans, Viki removes the language and cultural barriers that stand between great entertainment and fans everywhere.

Viki is part of the Rakuten Group of companies, which includes Viber, eBates, Lyft and more, reaching a global audience of nearly 1 billion users.”

According to the Deadline report, Viki will be available in two formats, one a free, ad-supported channel and a $3.99 a month premium channel called Viki Pass. Aslo per the report Viki’s Product VP Alex Chan says that Roku is a big part of Viki’s worldwide strategy, “(Roku) is an important part of Viki’s mission to introduce global prime-time entertainment to new audiences around the world. The Roku platform is among the most requested streaming platforms, so we’re thrilled to offer this option to current Viki viewers, as well as introduce Viki’s content to millions of Roku customers.”
