The Roku Ban In Mexico Is Back

We reported last week about the court ordered ban of Roku sales in Mexico, and the lifting of the ban with a successful appeal by Roku.

It looks as if the winning appeal was very short lived. Reuters reports today that a Mexican Tribunal has reinstated the ban. The article also quotes Cablevision (who filed for the ban) as saying, “Cablevision cannot allow the content that it licenses from domestic and foreign companies to be illegally used. We would also like Roku Inc to better supervise the use of its software so that it’s not used inappropriately.”

Roku disagreed with the ruling and said, “Today’s decision is not the final word in this complex legal matter, and it is not expected to prevent consumers from purchasing Roku products in Mexico at this time.”

We’ll keep you posted as more details develope.
