Last year many cord cutters were very excited to find out that they could stream “A Charlie Brown Christmas” free via the ABC app.
I was just checking the app today, and I am very happy to report “A Charlie Brown Christmas” is back again this year. The ABC app offers dozens of past ABC shows free, and several current season shows for free as well. For the latest episodes of current shows you may need a cable or satellite provider authentication, but the majority of the content is free to everyone.
Besides “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, I noticed that you can also still catch “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” on the app (at least as of this writing).
As of this writing, the episode isn’t listed in the featured category. To find it on the app, select all shows, then search by alphabetical listing.
For those unfamiliar with “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, here is a brief description from ABC:
“Celebrate the joy of the holidays with the classic animated Christmas-themed PEANUTS special, A Charlie Brown Christmas, created by the late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz. In the digitally re-mastered 1965 special, Charlie Brown complains about the overwhelming materialism that he sees everywhere during the Christmas season. Lucy suggests that he become director of the school Christmas pageant and Charlie Brown accepts, but it proves to be a frustrating struggle. When an attempt to restore the proper spirit with a forlorn little fir Christmas tree fails, Charlie Brown needs Linus’s help to learn what the real meaning of Christmas is.”
To add the ABC app to your Roku lineup go to your on screen Channel Store and search ABC, or you can add it to your Roku on the web by clicking here and logging in to your account.
Don’t have a Roku? You can watch A Charlie Brown Christmas straight from ABC’s website on your tablet, laptop, or desktop at this link. ABC is also availble on Amazon Fore, Apple TV, and Android devices.
this is only for Roku owners in the USA. it is geoIP blocked for me
That stinks, sorry to hear that. What country are you in? Can you access directly through the website?
Thank you!!! Had just went to ABC because I saw it was on earlier but didn’t see it- you led me straight to it!
No problem, I would think ABC would promote it as featured content, but they aren’t. Such a great classic.
