Roku, Inc. today announced that industry data reveals incredible momentum for the Roku TV program in just two years since its launch. As of Dec. 2016 following launch into Mexico, there were 100 Roku TV models available in the North American market. Roku TVs accounted for 13 percent of all U.S. smart TV sales translating into one out of eight smart TV purchases in the U.S.1 HD and 4K Roku TV models from brands including Hisense, Hitachi, Insignia, Sharp and TCL offer consumers a simple smart TV experience with elegant design at competitive prices. TCL uses the Roku TV program to build all of its smart TV models in the U.S. and has climbed from the 9th largest brand in 2015 to the 6th in 2016, becoming the fastest growing TV brand in America.

In 2017 Roku expects a 50 percent increase in models with 150 models available to consumers in North America, featuring a wider range than ever of prices as well as picture and display capabilities. Consumers will be able to choose from very affordable HD and 4K UHD models to TVs with stunning picture quality boosted by 4K, Dolby Vision HDR, and local dimming. In addition, Element Electronics becomes a licensee with plans to launch its first HD Roku TV models at major retailers this year.

Roku TV offers consumers access to more than 450,000+ movies and TV episodes through 4,500 streaming channels. Additionally, Roku TV offers powerful search and discovery features that can save consumers time and money. Search results, which are unbiased and span across 150 top streaming channels (a six-fold increase since Jan. 2016), are ranked by price, showing where movies and TV shows are free or cheapest to watch. Roku TV models receive regular automatic software updates that deliver new streaming channels and features, including the recently announced Live TV Pause feature and extensions to the user-interface allowing visually impaired users to more easily enjoy the Roku TV experience. Using the free Roku mobile app for iOS and Android devices consumers can control their TV, leverage the private listening feature through headphones, browse and search for content as well as play personal media on the TV.
