Roku may be looking to change the names of it’s popular streaming devices when it issues new models later this year.
According to Dave Zatz the new product names will be Roku Express, Roku Premiere, and Roku Ultra.
The new names should help end some of the confusion amongst new cord cutters between the older models of 1,2, and 3 and the new models.
The breakdown of each model from Katz:
Roku Express- Two models will be offered as a replacement for the Roku 1, Roku Express (3700) and Express Plus (3710). Katz speculates the difference between the two may be the plus has the addition of headphones, or voice remote.
Roku Premiere- Two models will replace the Roku 2 & 3. Roku Premiere (4620) and Roku Premiere Plus (4630). Both models will feature 4K streaming capability with the plus having HDR capability as well.
Roku Ultra- This model will reportedly be the replacement for the Roku 4. Katz believe this will have all of the features of the Roku Premiere Plus as well as a remote control finder and an optical out feature.
