LG Roku TV Released For Limited Time

LG is releasing two Roku TV models for a limited time through Best Buy. The models being released are a 55″ LG 55LF5700 for $549 & a 65″ 65LF5700 for $999.

LG produces their own operating systems for their smart tv’s called webOS. Releasing a TV with the Roku OS has led many to wonder if maybe they will be dropping the webOS in favor of Roku OS.

LG-Roku-RemoteIt appears that LG will be sticking with the webOS according to a statement they released to CNet, “As part of a limited-time promotion with Best Buy, LG is offering one entry-level series of TV with non-LG Smart TV technology this holiday season. While the Roku platform was chosen for this brief, cost-competitive promotion, LG’s own webOS platform remains at the core of our extensive Smart TV lineup.”

Whether there are plans or not in place, one would have to think that if there is a strong enough reaction to this limited edition run they will at least have to consider releasing more models with the Roku OS.
